Missions

We believe that Winkler Road Baptist Church has a responsibility to do all we can to reach the Fort Myers area. We are commanded in Luke 14:23 to “go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in.” It is our desire to reach our own Jerusalem.

But God has also commanded us to do all we can to reach people for Christ all around the world. The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19,20 says “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Through our Faith Promise Giving program our people give over $150,000 yearly to missions. Every March we have a Missions Conference where we bring in several missionaries Wednesday – Friday to challenge our hearts for missions. It is also a wonderful time of ministering to the missionaries. Missions Conference is one of the highlights of our church year. On the Sunday after Missions Conference we have Faith Promise Sunday. We bring in a special speaker who challenges our hearts for missions and people by faith decide how much they want to give to missions in the next year.

We are also seeking to have yearly missions trips and we pray for missionaries from the pulpit on a regular basis.

We also have a program we have called “Adopt a Country”. At Missions Conference people are encouraged to adopt a country. Then throughout the year they minister to the missionaries in that country by communicating with them and praying for them. This way our people get to really know the missionaries from that country.
